Keep an eye on your kidney function. Light chain MM can lead to kidney failure.

I was diagnosed in March '24 at age 67 with Stage 3 high risk Lambda light chains MM with the 17p deletion. My Lambda light chains were 2,300. In less than 2 months of very aggressive treatment my numbers were in the normal range. I have been asymptomatic with no side affects to treatments the entire time. I went in remission in August and continue the same way.

I presented with severe pain in my left groin - or at least that's where I thought it was. In about a month the pain went from feeling like a bad sprain to the point that I could not move or lift the leg. I saw my personal care physician three times and he sent me to a sports orthopedic specialist who ordered an MRI which led to the diagnosis of MM with many lesions in the left pelvic region - and a pelvic fracture. I had none of the other indicators such as anemia, calcium or kidney disfunction - only bone lesion pain. I was 75 years old in early 2022 when all of that happened.

My light chain number was 3700 when I was diagnosed in 2022. Induction treatment (VrD) brought it down with a 'very large partial response' which was then controlled with Revlimid, although never in remission. After relapsing from Revlimid, daratumumab, and kyprolis - I decided to try one of the T cell treatments. Talquetamab during bridging (step up and the one half-dose) brought my light chains to remission - and then I completed the single dose Carvykti. Each treatment has side effects and I am now still dealing with the recent Talq treatment side effects. CAR T shows signs of a complete response based on blood work (Day 35) - we will know more when they test in September for MRD in the bone marrow and PET scan.

They definitely check for that Paula; kidney function & numbers are both good.
