I had been on Xgeva for bone building yesterday doctor said going to change that to Zometa. After reading both can cause ONJ not sure I want either of them cause I’m 71 stage 3 IGG Kappa High risk relapsed and do not want any part of ONJ
They pulled a fast one on me before I had time to research the actual side effects of this new drug. Doctor said as needed closely monitored but my aunts husband had prostate cancer was on a bone building shot she forgot name but is looking up for me
Anyway… read more
Praise God for that!!!
Everyone is different I guess
I’ve been treated with zometa during treatment for breast cancer, more recently for MM. I discussed it with my dentist extensively who has only seen one case of it in a patient who had deplorable Oral health. The consensus is to get your mouth in good shape prior to Zometa. Extractions, root canals and invasive treatments are to be avoid.
Both oncologists took me off all calcium due to high risk of hypercalcemia and my high calcium level 12.5 zometa was used one time to bring down my calcium now 8.3 and it was successful so no more zometa.
Angie,
Vitamin D3 helps the bones absorb calcium and Vitamin K tells the calcium to go to the bone. I think this is one of the most important supplement for MM. I have been on this site for 4-5 years, and in that time have read too many horror stories about osteonecrosis.
