The response listed is a good one to follow. My Dr. Wanted me to follow an antibacterial diet. Follow the ideas listed in the response. I stayed away from fast foods, and anywhere the chance of someone or something spreading bacteria. Generally processed foods are from a sterile environment and considered safe to eat. Any fruit or vegetables with a hard peel that you can wash and or throw away the peel.
Just remember to eat what you want, provided it is bacteria free. Well cooked meat, and foods cooked at home, providing bacteria free food items, are generally safe. My doctor told me one thing to remember, food is my medicine! Eat when you know that you should, not necessarily when you become hungry. I know I am going to say something, that may sound ridiculous, but frozen meals that are processed, generally are safe, as long as they are prepared in a sterile environment.
REMEMBER: These are suggestions that worked for me, please, asked your doctor or call the nurse associated with your doctor to ask those questions. Our rule of thumb was if the food prepared at home was for me and not served family style, meaning not to share dishes with others, and to eat well cooked food made in a sterile environment was good.
And one of my nurses said, " There is never any five seconds rule!" If you dropped something throw it away, it is not worth you getting sicker over it!
GOD Bless you! Just use common sense, no food that can harbor any bacteria!
This is not by any means medical advise, just run things by your doctor and/or their staff!
I just remember that you can't eat out. I agree with Greg. The hardest thing for me, was I didn't want to eat. So, it's smart to stay on some sort of schedule. You'll do great!
