My kappa light chains went up four points but that put me out of the normal range. My IGG is still low and my other tests seem ok. My ratio is high to 2.something. M spike test not in yet. Is there any other explanation for this besides relapse ?
Complete blood count, serum and urine protein electrophoresis, serum free light chains, maybe urine light chains, quantitative immunoglobins. I probably missed some but mainly the m spike and the free light chain test. They don't always make me do the 24 hour urine, but if they are worried about relapse I will probably do one. When I relapse the first time my m spike doubled. I know my specialist called me at home. Not a good sign. 🤔
Doctors monitor for myeloma relapse through regular blood work and imaging tests. A relapse is typically diagnosed based on changes in blood globulin levels, new bone lesions, and increases in plasma cells in the bone marrow. Doctors use the CRAB criteria to check for relapse signs:
- Calcium levels (elevated)
