My husband chewed ice, popsicles etc before the mephelan and at least 4 hours after. He got no sores and actually did not lose the hair around his lips. All the best🙏❤️

I chewed crushed ice throughout the mephalan infusion (the actual transplant in the hospital) & I got no mouth sores. They even told me I could stop, but I didn't! If however, you are referring to the induction chemo that your on before the transplant, I'd try to keep some gum, mints, or water with you wherever you go. I did get some mouth sores from that but keeping my mouth moist really helped. Don't hesitate to let your care team know if this happens. They can prescribe a solution for you to rinse your mouth with that helps quite a bit. Best of luck to you! It's not easy, but you will get through it!!!

The nurse helped me when the transplant begin put the ice on my mouth and asked me to chew or chrush and suck the water 💦 plus stand by gums or soft sweets to keep my mouth from sores it’s about 45 minutes.But it not over depends on your body responds to the transplant, for me it’s very tough and mental stress is because after the transplant l was in critical condition and have to get blood infusion, feel like a dead 😵 person but l still alive. For the hair it will take you about a week the hair starting to drop.

I was in the transplant room about 14 days and it depends on individual some will take shorter or longer.
