Sometimes it’s 2019 or 2021, but that’s only if there are lots of studies and articles on the same thing. I have t(14;16). They mention it as high risk, but you don’t see studies because most patients with it die first. So I read what’s new, since I feel I have read it all. I’ve always felt, in order to understand something, you have to become an expert. That’s really hard with MM, since it’s so complicated.

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member - General question for you. When you're researching various aspects of multiple myeloma, what is the cutoff date of a publication where you say, "This is too old. It's probably not relevant anymore"? With such rapid changes in multiple myeloma research and development, it's difficult for me to know what to spend my time reading and not.

Kappa,
Ascopubs.org has an article. Just Google MYC rearrangement.

I think the results of FISH are not bad at all, in fact they are particularly good. You should be happy about that!
I have FISH: 26% 1q amplification and 41% 53 TP deletion. I read in an article that bad genetics is a necessary but not sufficient condition for the development of myeloma. Maybe no two people have the same genetics? We used to learn that chromosomes can repair themselves, or does that not apply?

I just read that the MYC gene is located at 8q24.21. I'm trying to learn what a MYC rearrangement means in terms of prognosis.
