Cymbalta
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does Cymbalta work the same as Gabapentin or Lyrica? Are all three used for neuropathy and depression?

Yes. My wife uses Cymbalta. She has RSD. A neurological condition where her brain thinks her right shoulder is injured, but it’s not. The Cymbalta helps her brain think straight I guess. Hope it works for you.

I am taking cymbalta and it helps with my back pain as well. Never took gabapentin or lyrica.

I tried lyrica and it did help the back pain but it is an antidepressant and antidepressant make me crazy so I had to stop taking. The doctor then prescribed cymbalta and when I looked it up it was another antidepressant so I didn’t even try it. Having this disease can cause depression but seems that some doctors love to give antidepressants out like candy. Not a good thing in my opinion.

I take generic Cymbalta (Duloxetine HCL) & Gabapentin, for depression and nerve pain respectively.
I believe Gabapentin is for nerve pain, while (Cymbalta) has a bonus of pain relief. I will try anything that can help with pain…but I haven’t tried Lyrica.

All these should take the pain away. But won’t cure neuropathy. I tried all of those which only had mild help.. I’m on methadone now.. works great
