I am just starting. I was sent to a Nephrologist because of kidney/blood work issues. That doctor did durther blood work. She is sending me to a hemotologist. This has been 6 months. Doctors in all fields in the St.Louis metro area take 3-6 months for new patient appointments.
Absolutely, I just did a patient experience livestream on the Multiple Myeloma Reseach Foundation site about that very topic. Search Health Equities on the MMRF site. I was almost dead by the time that I was diagnosed. I was sick I know for aleast two years before or maybe even longer! It is very scary to know how many people that are misdiagnosed. But we are working on a solution!!!
No. Luckily my primary doctor (who has 12000 patients) immediately recognized the MM trait of the M-spike. While it wasn’t confirmed until other tests were conducted his experience proved invaluable.
🙁
