My Kappa number is rising but my protein pattern is normal. Will, at some point, the protein reflect the Kappa numbers; if they keep rising?
When discussing kappa and Lambda light chains always remember the units either expressed as mg/liter (mg/l), or mg /decaliter (mg/dl) . This makes a difference in expression by a factor of ten times. A reading of 4.3 mg/dl is equal to 43 mg/l. The lab ranges of upper and lower control are adjusted accordingly. The guide below should help.
Kathryn, I was trying to figure out the answer to your question. I would think your kappa and m spike would go up at the same time. Comparing my labs don't help because I'm IgG Lambda. I guess it's possible to convert to light chain only myeloma. How high is your Kappa?
Your numbers donโt look bad. Iโm SMM and my Kappa is higher.
