Chiropractor
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone use a chiropractor who has bone involvement? I would like to have an adjustment as I used to do this before diagnosis regularly. My neck has been stiff from stress and I can tell it needs to be adjusted. My doc said as long as the chiropractor is good shouldn’t be a problem. But I wanted to see what others experienced with using one.

I wouldn’t be adjusted. I would ask for a massage that was not too intense. That will loosen the tight muscles causing the problem. Stretch after to adjust your neck yourself. You can also buy a neck stretch which hangs from a doorway. My mother-in-law used one. You can get it at a medical supply store.

I went to a chiropractor before it was diagnosed with back pain. He had a new technique which was a hammer on my spinal chord. It turns out the pain was from compression fractures. My advice is DON'T GO!! Back problems and compression fractures are often the first signs of the disease. You may have enough problems with your back and neck without having someone twist them around!

I saw a chiropractor regularly for years before diagnosis. In fact, I went to a chiropractor trying to ease my back pain before I went to my PCP. At diagnosis, I was told to never see a chiropractor again. Kinda scared me!
