Runny Nose Whenever I Eat .

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭
Wells, ME

Here’s a good question for everyone. Ever since I was diagnosed with MM whenever I eat food, whether it’s hot or cold, my nose runs. My Oncologist has no explanation for this happening. I went to an ear, nose and throat specialist and as soon as I said Cancer he dismissed me. Any body with the same experience? It’s a little embarrassing when I go to a restaurant.

Hi Bob,
I have the exact same problem. We are likely reacting to the MM creating a side reaction or our chemo meds. I fill handkerchiefs too. I went to an Eye, Ears, Nose Specialist and had a procedure to freeze a nerve in my sinus to stop the issue, no dice. It gets worse in the winter too. Hang in there.

My nose runs all the time, especially when I eat. I blame it on the Darzalex.

My mom's doctor told her that the veins in your nose dialate as you eat which causes your nose to run.

I also have this. Not just when I'm eating. Mine has a clear drip almost constantly. Ipratropium nasal spray does help some. 2 sprays each nostril 4 times a day. Steriod nasal spray helps too, but dang I don't want more steriods. As a member above said, they can ablate the nerve, but people have told me it doesn't work at all. Just one more discomfort we gave to deal with😏
