RichardGibbs,
It depends on how many tests you have had, like a bone marrow biopsy, special blood tests like beta 2 microglobulin serum, protein electrophoresis, cbc, comprehensive metabolic panel, Immunoglobulins (IgA, IgG etc), kappa/lands light chains, lactate dehydrogenase (ldh), urine immunize electrophoresis, quantitative immunoglobulins, vitamin D, and epg serum. All of these tests help your doctor to diagnosis and determine treatment. If you are not seeing a doctor who Specializes in just treating MM, start looking for one to work with your current Oncologist if the Specialist is too far away.

Yes ask for sedation, if your doctor says a bone marrow is no big deal, then he has never had one lol.

Richard,
Were . any of your blood test values above or below normal? Like Kappa or Lambda? Did it show an “M” Spike? What about your CBC, anything abnormal there? Your Oncologist is going to let you know what those numbers mean. Ask. If your numbers are closer to normal ranges you may have MGUS. He should be able to tell you. The bone marrow biopsy tells you how much of your bone marrow is affected. If a lot are affected, you may need to start treatment. He will discuss options. This is a very complex disease. We are all still learning and leaning on each other. I believe through the MMRF (Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation) you can get a downloadable Guide.

totally agree. Insist on sedation for bone marrow. Don't suffer needlessly. Find closest specialty clinic and have all your specialists from there if at all possible. If you regulary take ibuprofen, they will make you stop. I highly reccomend taking Integrative therapeutics bioavailable curcurum 1200mg daily and Greenroads cbd oil
full spectrum 25mg gelcap daily. these are both anti-inflammatories that boost immune system and are safe for kidnies and liver. Google and investigate jOE tIPPENS pROTOCOL AND see what you think. this would be in addition to traditional treatment. feel free to call me at (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators). I have been thru the wringer but through God's miracles of modern medicine am now doing well. Greg
