Has Anyone Been Taking "Prozac"?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know this drug has been around for a long time. It's for depression
I was looking at the side effects and most of them are the symptoms I'm trying to get rid of
I promised I would give them a fair trial.
I was told that many seniors think they are losing their mind because their interest in different parts of life are gone. He thinks it's really depression, not age-related conditions, in many cases. Agitation, shakes, sleepiness and sleeplessnes, higher blood pressure, low sodium, intimacy… read more

Another one I was on was Wellbutrin. Not sure if it would help better or not.

While I was in a rehabilitation hospital after a series of TIA’s brought on by A-Fib that I didn’t know I had they sent in 2 ladies that I called Sigmund & Freud to do the depressed test I called it.
At the end they said we think your suffering from depression. I laughed & said who the hell wouldn’t be depressed. I just had another series of TIA’s, found out I have A-Fib & can’t control the entire left side of my body. I have a terminal disease, multiple myeloma, my kidneys GFR is down to 21-22. Plus we just came out of a long winter & it’s rained the entire month of April!

YES, I’m depressed!🤬

They put me on sertraline in the morning & trazadone to sleep @ night. It seems to help, I don’t snap as quickly as I did before & I sleep all night with one bathroom break.

I started driving for LYFT from 7am - 10am just to get out of the house & see some people other than my restaurant buddies. I really enjoy it & I make money too to offset all these unexpected medical bills, they never seem to end.

Take anything you need to make you physically & mentally able to handle your new life.❤️🤙

For some reason my body or brain or tinnitus won't tolerate it. I'm in the process of weaning. I have 3 more days to go. I have to tell you, that the days I'm on it are not pleasant. I don't know why this is happening. You're right about getting outdoors and getting out of me to appreciate the world of nature.

Hi Katherine I’ve been taking Prozac since 2009. I take 30 mg daily (at bedtime). Depression/anxiety runs in my family. I walk almost daily. It really helps to get out and get fresh air and be around nature. The only thing I don’t like about Prozac is that when I have a glass of wine, it hits me quickly and it feels like I’ve had two or three. I wonder if this is common? Anyway, Prozac has really helped me. I was a mess. Crying uncontrollably/high anxiety. I had a number of things occur in my life within a short period of time which snowballed and caused much grief. I will say I’m glad I was already taking it in 2018 when I was diagnosed with MM. It helped get me through the rough times…

It takes about 6 weeks for full effect. You may feel weird at first but the symptoms usually disappear. I’ve been on celexa for years and it’s helpful. If it doesn’t work there are many others to try. Hugs
