How long has it been since SCT? I had mine in 2020. I went into remission about about 18 months later. I had fatigue and still have back pain! It just gets a little better as time passes! Some is caused by age (71). But what ever pain or fatigue I have beats the alternative!!!

I am on Pomalyst and Darzalex. Fatigue is a problem for me also. Exercise and eating well does help. I was really fatigued on Revlimid. The steriods cause muscle wasting, so exercise is very important for us💕

Back pain and fatigue are common issues for people with multiple myeloma, even after a stem cell transplant (SCT) and achieving remission. Here are some insights from the knowledge base:

Back Pain:
- Causes: Myeloma itself, treatments, and related conditions can contribute to back pain. Myeloma affects plasma cells in the bone marrow, leading to excessive production of abnormal cells that interfere with bone structure.
- Management: It's important to discuss ongoing back pain with your healthcare team to explore potential treatments and pain management strategies.

Fatigue:
- Persistence: Fatigue is a common and challenging symptom in blood cancer patients. It can be due to the disease itself, treatments, or other reversible causes like anemia, thyroid issues, or adrenal suppression.
- Lifestyle Tips:
- Exercise: Starting with gentle activities like walking can help manage fatigue. Gradually increasing activity levels can improve endurance.
- Prioritization: Focus on one or two important activities each day to manage energy levels.
- Sleep: Good sleep habits are crucial. Poor sleep can exacerbate fatigue, so addressing sleep issues is important.

Recommendations:
- Consult Your Doctor: Always discuss your symptoms with your healthcare team to tailor a management plan specific to your needs.
- Stay Active: Gentle exercise and staying active can help reduce fatigue over time.
- Support Network: Engaging with support groups like MyMyelomaTeam can provide additional insights and emotional support from others with similar experiences.
