I've started getting a monthly infusion of Ig immunoglobulin. I've heard this might also help relieve neuropathy symptoms. Anyone have any experience with this?
I guess then the answer is that the IVIg does not help with neuropathy. Thanks.
I have not had that treatment, but have had severe neuropathy after Velcade used in induction chemo prior to stem cell transplant. My doc prescribed Pregabalin with the addition of Cymbalta (yes, it is an antidepressant as well) and the combo has been working so well!
I haven’t heard of it for neuropathy. However , I have heard of Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) as a therapy treatment for patients with antibody deficiencies. It is prepared from a pool of immunoglobulins (antibodies) from the plasma of thousands of healthy donors. Immunoglobulins are made by the immune system of healthy people for the purpose of fighting infections. A couple years ago I had a side effect reaction to Revlimid consisting of hooks which went away and never to return. I remained on Revlimid as maintenance for 2 years since.
Haven't heard of of it relieving neuropathy as it is mainly to boost your body to fight infections. It brings up your IgG immunoglobulin levels. The IgA and IgG are the other two immunoglobulins that are in your blood to fight infections. But unfortunately there are no treatments or infusions to bring these up to normal levels. As Mepapermaker1 stated there is the IVIG infusion that I get every 3 months to keep my IgG levels in the normal range.
