Can Anyone Teach Me A Little Bit About Iga,igg, igm. Do We Need These Antibodies To Be High Or Low Or Within The Range?
You want your Ig Levels, Ideally within range. They are parts of your immune system that fight infections of various types. When too low, due to treatment or other reasons, a simple infection can go unchecked and become things like pneumonia.
When MM is out of control, it typically shows in very high Ig levels such as IgA or IgG type of MM. MM treatment and maintenance meds typically make and keep Ig levels too low.
I’ve been asking people on the forum who had MM, became MRD Negative and have been off all MM meds for years - did their Ig immune levels return to normal?
Many people didn’t know how to eval their Labs or find their records to review. I did finally find someone with a few years of CR and no MM Meds - good news is his immune system has returned to normal. I’m only six months off all MM Meds and in CR - my Ig levels are slowly improving towards low-normal.
Thanks everyone
Great 👍 information
Go to the search function on MYMYELOMA it's the magnifying glass and enter: " IgG and IgA Antibodies: What Do They Mean" it should answer some of your questions.
Hi Jeanette, You can always visit the IDF. ORG to understand IgA, IgG & IdM. LLS. ORG also has information for MM patients.
IGG’s have to do with your immune system. IGG- bacteria virus, IGM-immunity, IGA- mucus. Etc. Go to Health Tree and they have a great short video with a better explanation. You do want them in normal range.
IgA Myeloma
What Would Cause The Trend Of My IgA, IgG, IgM, Lambda Counts To All Be Down?
