With multiple myeloma since it is incurable you are never cancer free but when your numbers are greatly reduced, like mine are currently, under 1, I am considered in remission. For the first time in over 10 years I do not have weekly or monthly chemo. In fact I have had nothing since my CAR-T transplant in July.

Hi Darell,
Hi here is my story.
Since my first showing up on this website, I have had substantial improvements. I've been through my stem cell transplant and a chemo drug that they used for people with leukemia. They were both very brutal. Then they put me on a new drug and I am doing very well. It's call TECVAYLI. It is a sub Q injectable. I have had minimal side effects but I feel much better even though I am 72.

I never tell anyone that I’m in remissions. I usually say “Im feeling pretty good ” To think remissions means you ok for now but the truth is you’re not back feeling like you did prior to being treated for MM ever. You just as well say you’re on a commercial break and will be back soon

I am in "complete remission" and as there are no M proteins in my bloodwork I am considered to be "cancer free" at the moment and have been for 2 years with no medication at all. This is more than "remission" and is obviously possible!
