Members opened up about the frustrating cost of medicine, with many pointing to greed and the pharmaceutical industry as the root cause. Several members shared helpful resources that have reduced their out-of-pocket costs, including Medicare with supplemental plans, income-based grants, Bristol Myers Squibb's patient assistance program for Revlimid, and Nurse Navigators or social workers who can connect patients to financial support. A recurring theme was the importance of understanding your insurance options, with members encouraging others to visit their local Medicare office and seek guidance to find the plan that best fits their specific medications and needs.

I totally agree that the prices are insane but I’ve been quite amazed that all of my medical has been covered by Medicare and my United Healthcare Supplemental policy.

Then Revlimid was covered by Bristol Myers by having less than $150K in annual income, without any concern of other assets. This last year could have been overwhelming but my out of pocket has been minimal.

I understand not everyone is old enough to be on Medicare or may have other insurance but there does seem to be plenty of financial support available.

The one thing I’ve never trusted were the Ads for Advantage Plans. Through Medicare, I’ve had instant access to everything I’ve needed - every doctor, specialist, treatment and test. I’m even able to order up my own tests or services without a referral. There’s been Doc offices, when asking about my insurance, would say they don’t accept Advantage Plans but were fine with Medicare. I always had a premium Blue Cross Plan from work. It would have never taken care of me like Medicare and my AARP Supplemental has.

That said, Rx should be covered the same as Medicare Part A & B & Supplemental. It would save lives.

This all started in the Beginning. Sin has created the greed that the insurance companies have passed onto the people that get these diseases. If only Adam and Eve had listened to God none of this would be happening to us.

The law of supply and demand in reverse! We demand it because it is a necessity for us they have the supply, and like dangling a carrot in front of the horse, what will we pay to save our lives! GREED, and not caring for their fellow man!
I will step down from my soap box!
