I Need More Information On Stem Cell Transplant, Please.
we went to a consultation yesterday on stem cell transplant and we need more information on the procedure
Hi Greg,
MRD Negative is no measurable cancer. If your Ig is still bad after your SCT, then the continuing maintenance meds may work at bringing that back to normal over time. Once all your MM levels are normal and there's no M-Spike they may do an MRD test to see if there's no measurable cancer (10 -6), therefore, Negative. The company clonoSEQ has a new testing process that's more accurate.
All the Best,
Larry2
Greg,
That's great that you're 5 years and no returning issues. Seems like people are getting 20 years or more - the meds regime have come a long way. I did a lot of early on reading and yes, SCT can easily extend the progression time. Did your SCT get you to MRD Negative?
How were your Labs prior to SCT - did they show normal Ig, protein, and kappa/lambda levels?
All the Best,
Larry2
sct is a process but most doc recommend it. It is supposed to lengthen time between relapes. Been 5 years for me so far
Here is my little write up on transplant. I had some complications. Don't let it scare you off. Mine was 4 and a half years ago. I am five and a half years since diagnosis. I have done really well since transplant.
Not sure what MRD negative is, my labs were not good, told the cancer was in 70% of my body. ig protein kappa still not good.
