I’m going to join the chorus suggesting that you get a 2nd opinion. In my presence, my husband’s doc in November said he had “aggressive MM” and he’d be terminal in a year without treatment. He even told us what drugs he’d use. We went the next month (after a PET scan) and he said “watch and wait.” Next visit in 3 months he said the same. We finally looked at doc’s notes in patient portal —doc decided husband had “indolent “ myeloma, not yet MM. But he never said a word to us about a changed diagnosis. You don’t necessarily have to have a referral to a variety of genuine myeloma centers. Check & see what’s within driving distance. Fighting MM is enough of a challenge without having a lack of confidence in your doc. Check your patient portal & doc’s notes. Maybe they will give you insight into what’s going on. We think husband’s doc just wasn’t man enough to own up to a premature diagnosis. By the way— we go back next week for more tests & to find out whether myeloma center doc thinks husband has SMM—or is even possibly at MGUS stage. He’s already said it’s not MM. Although that’s good news, we are appalled at how the local doc handled things. You deserve better.

Thomas I also was diagnosed with light chain stage one . They started my treatment as soon as I was released from the hospital I had surgery because my leg broke. Find yourself a Cancer Center in your area. Who has someone who specializes in MM . I am in remission and the last Biopsy they did in October I had no cancer cells. So the sooner you start your treatment the better off your journey will be. Good Luck God Bless Take Care.

Please go quickly. Excess light chains in your urine can cause kidney failure!
