I will be getting a SCT. Do people shave their heads or just lose it through the procedure? How long does it take for it to start growing back? Thank you
Shaved hair is itchier and pokier than hair that falls out naturally. My mother never lost a small amount of hair in front so wore winter hats to cover the rest of her head. It looked like she still had hair.
I cut mine really short (Pixie cut) but even then started losing it on my pillow and shower so the nurse suggested shaving it. It was easier as it fell out, Mine started little spikes after 3 1/2 months but was slow growing in. My hair was light brown, came back dark with whites, salt & pepper and yes curls. It grows really quick now. We are somewhat prepared for losing our hair however everyone has a different experience & feelings they went thru. :) best to you as you Journey SCT - prayers
Just lose it after the procedure. It starts coming back around 2 to 3 months later. There's a chance it will come back with some curls but should return to normal around 10 to 12 months. Should being the optimum word. Mine still has curls after my SCT in February.
My hair was falling out in clumps doing the sct. Easiest to shave. It took 4-6 months to grow back. I did have a beautiful wig looked just like my hair color and style worked great.
Greetings from Alaska I lost my hair in the first round of treatment started on straight chemo then it grew back then dexamethasone caused thinning and now I’m going to SCT so I’m just going to shave it all off before I get there so it’s done. One of the guys in my support group said by the third month after his SCT his hair started to grow back. If I get a remission I’m not worried about the hair grow back I just want to feel better. God bless you take care
