I have been taking Zolpidem long term and it helps. You build up a tolerance, but it does continue to help. The generic version for Ambien is Zolpidem, which is inexpensive. You may want to look at joining GoodRx. It is inexpensive to join and Zolpidem is about $5 per month

The normal dose is 10 mg for men and 5 for women. You Must Take on an empty stomach. When I first started, I got 6-8 hours sleep. Now after many years, it takes me longer to small asleep. If I wake up during the night, I have trouble going back to sleep.

Good luck

Zolpidem is generic for Ambien. Zolpidem does not work well for many people including me. It's frustrating to take it for insomnia and then lay awake all night get good sleep with ambien. Most insurances require prior authorization for this name brand. Your doctor's office can handle that with a phone call to ins Co. IT is expensive. Have you applied to LLS Foundation for financial assistance with MM treatments?
