samar, Yes, The Myeloma medications can take you into Remission. It may not be as long or as deep of Remission as the SCT can put you into and many times it will keep you from just progressing any further. SCT’s are still recommended by Researchers and many Specialists in the early treatment phase for a deeper and longer Remission. There are certain circumstances where SCT’s are not recommended, so then medications can take you close or into Remission. Have a good day! Love, Marcia 🌼🌸🌻
Yes- I have been in so called Remission for about 2 years with taking chemotherapy. I was to old and with to many health issue for SCT. I was 76 when diagnosed
Marcia nailed it, in my opinion. I can't add anything else to what she said.
I will add a personal experience related to this.
I was taking treatment leading up to my SCT. I was in remission over a month before my scheduled date. I jokingly asked my doctor if I could skip the SCT seeings how I'm in remission.
He laughed a little then explained that everything I've done is part of a specific path designed for me specifically. He also reminded me that the decision is always up to me.
Naturally I went through with it.
Samar thanks for the hug and have a good evening.
Don’t know because that’s the standard treatment.
