I had a transplant Dec 20, 2017. I am doing well, but I wasn't responding to the treatments that well. Maybe you have more options
Frances, that was a huge fear for me. You seem to be doing well now💕
I had the stem cell transplant a couple of years ago. It was not too bad and I did not get as sick as some in the process. I think itbwas worth a try but did not put me in remission. I will just be on chemo the as long as it keeps working. We had to stay in Tucson for about six weeks. It was so dissappointing that it failed but had to try.
Elected not to do transfer at age of 76 as by the time all vaccines, etc were brought up to date, it would have meant I would have lost about 18 months, not knowing if taste and smell would return, not sure about hair, etc prompted me to pass on transplant and watching for new meds to come out that will help additionally with MM
I interviewed at Vanderbilt university hospital for a transplant. They turned me down on the grounds of my age and they did not think my heart was good enough.
