That's wonderful news β a PET/CT scan showing no signs of active myeloma is a really positive result and can indeed point toward remission! π
There are two types of remission worth knowing about:
- Partial remission β Some cancer cells may remain, but the disease is less active and symptoms improve
- Complete remission β No Show Full Answer

There are two types of remission worth knowing about:
- Partial remission β Some cancer cells may remain, but the disease is less active and symptoms improve
- Complete remission β No cancer is detected in blood tests or imaging scans It's important to know that even in complete remission, tiny amounts of myeloma cells can sometimes still exist but just aren't detectable by current tests. That's why regular follow-up testing and checkups remain really important.
Your care team may also recommend ongoing maintenance therapy β a low-dose treatment to help keep myeloma from returning.
The best next step is to confirm with your myeloma specialist exactly what type of remission this represents based on your full results, including blood and urine tests alongside the scan.
