No! Exhaustion is part of the deal, lean in, listen to your body, and don’t feel like you have to make excuses as to why you’re so stinking tired! When you’ve got MM running in the background, sometimes it’s all you can do to just remain upright!

That's a really common and important question. The honest answer is: it often does improve, but it can vary from person to person.

As myeloma responds to treatment, fatigue tends to improve alongside it. One specialist put it well — when the focus shifts to getting the myeloma under control, managing pain, and addressing anxiety and nutrition, energy levels usually follow. That said, fatigue doesn't always disappear completely. There are sometimes reversible causes that can be identified and treated, such as:

- Anemia (low hemoglobin) — a blood transfusion may help
- Hormonal imbalances — such as thyroid or testosterone issues
- Adrenal suppression — sometimes caused by steroid use

It's worth talking to your healthcare team about whether any of these factors might be contributing to your fatigue. Lifestyle habits can also make a real difference. Gentle, consistent exercise — even just short walks — along with good sleep habits and proper nutrition have helped many people manage fatigue more effectively.

A MyMyelomaTeam member shared: "I try to walk twice daily with a nap in between." Small steps really can add up over time.
