I've heard the newer strain is pretty nasty....especially for seniors...and immune compromised
Evidently the current predominant strain of flu circulating today wasn’t perfectly predicted when vaccine composition was selected and made. So the shot isn’t as effective as it could be…but the vaccine still provides modest protection and can reduce severe symptoms from flu.
I’ve had bronchitis once this season that stemmed from a cold in the house. It was hard to kick. I’m being careful where I go but sometimes like when I go up to the hospital to get treatment it’s hard to stay away from everybody.
@ BobMassa: I had the same damn thing. Flu shot in October, but missed Christmas Eve/Day and New Year's Eve/Day (home alone, so much fun, I couldn't contain myself). Thankfully no fever, but man did I feel like crap. Sore throat, stomach flip-flops, massive headache, minimal appetite etc. I used Claritin-D, Tylenol and slippery elm tea and by January 5th I felt much better. Probably could have been worse had I not gotten the flu shot.
Prior to MM diagnosis, I never got a flu shot, and never got sick. Go figure!
I don't think so. Since I got my flu shot in sept. I've been sick twice. This last time with RSV. Nasty bit of business that virus is. Anyway the only thing the dr gave me was advice.... Tylenol and otc remedies.... no fever but fever like symptoms and body aches.... lasts about 1 week...
I have heard from several people that this year’s vaccine did not include the most prevalent flu strain that is circulating.
