To go along with GFR, what would be a high number to be concerned about for Creatinine, when paired with GFR?
My blood tests are starting to show up on " My Chart", for my blood draw.....that I had yesterday.
GFR; 51
Creatinine: 1.12 mg/dL
Hello Kathryn, My GFR is sometimes 50 and sometimes 60 which is normal. Both my oncologist and my kidney specialist say that they are not concerned by these numbers and the shift back and forth. A lot of it has to do with hydration so I try to drink lots of water especially in the summer. If it drops below 50 I may worry. Don't drive yourself crazy over your blood numbers and rely on your oncologist for guidance if things look like trouble. We are all different and our body's are reacting to medication and the myeloma. Keep the stress at a low level and live life one day at a time. Stay strong and best wishes. π¨ββοΈ
HI capt.....Thank you!
honestly; MM is not my most stressing anymore.....and you're right about our numbers. I finally learned not that long ago to stop keeping an eagle eye on my light chains...especially Kappa. It's the ratio that is important. Kappa goes and up and down for many reasons, not just MM. So, yeah, I'm not the quickest learner, but I do eventually. π
Hello Kathryn, always happy to hear from you and especially when you are doing well Hope that you are enjoying your Alaskan summer and staying strong. I find that there is so much bad news around that it is easy to get caught up in the moment. On a positive note, my friend Constance and the little dog and I have booked another week camping on the coast at Beverly Beach. I can't wait. Stay positive and stay strong. π¨ββοΈ

Early signs of kidney issues that should be monitored include changes in urination patterns, swelling in extremities, fatigue, and changes in blood pressure. With a GFR of 51 and creatinine of 1.12 mg/dL, it's important to discuss these results with your Show Full Answer
