Members shared widely varied experiences with eating habits after myeloma diagnosis, with many describing dramatic appetite loss, diminished taste, and difficulty tolerating foods they once loved, while others reported increased cravings driven by steroids like dexamethasone. Several members offered practical strategies for navigating these challenges, including switching to smaller, more frequent meals, incorporating protein shakes and supplements like Ensure, using apps like Yuka to avoid processed foods, trying meal delivery services like Mom's Meals, and focusing on anti-inflammatory diets rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, and whole grains while limiting sugar, red meat, and dairy. A recurring theme was the need to listen to one's body without guilt, adapt to constantly shifting tastes and tolerances, and balance the desire to eat healthily with the reality of treatment side effects, with many finding comfort in simple foods, fermented dairy, anti-cancer ingredients like turmeric and ginger, and the encouragement to eat what feels manageable rather than striving for perfection.

My eating habits have never changed, l eat what I wanted to eat. I did ask my doctor about diet and he said you can eat anything, you should know your self I was surprised 😳 because I know that patients with MM they very particular about the deities and used supplements for the back up.
But I did cut off the sugar, processed food and my fried food l cannot give up.
Because eastern types of food mostly are fried( my favourites) 🤩
Myself living with heart attack ( 2 stem ), arthritis and now high risk light chain lgG lamda Multiple Myeloma.
Now my type of drinks, I would have pure turmeric juice plus Monica honey ,
Ginger with lemon juice, pure coconut water and 1 litre of water every day consumed.
So for MM warriors just think about yourself what you wanted to eat and not try to make you’re life difficult.

Be careful what you ask for and you might just get it

Thanks 🙏

Diagnosed in 2017. Diet issues varied over the years pending treatment (chemo radiation steroids and SCT). Last year I started focusing on diet. Have read books by Doctors William Li and Mark Hyman. Sent sample to Viome and awaiting micro biome results. Have become believer that diet is a big part of our medical care fighting this horrible disease. My progress over the last year has been promising. Good luck to everyone and keep the faith.

Yes, After diagnosed with MM I completely stopped eating out side packed food. I only eat the fresh foods made at home. After diagnosed with MM my appetite considerably reduced. I lost nearly 20 kg of my weight. Now I focused on more protein and Vitamin rich food. More I include fruits and vegetables in my diet. I reduced intake of carbs in my diet. I also minimize sugar in my diet. I regularly take a glass of turmeric latte and some juice of ginger.
