When experiencing a persistent cough while having myeloma, it's important not to rely solely on over-the-counter medications without consulting your healthcare team first. Any new symptoms should be discussed with your oncologist, as they need to evaluate if the cough is related to your condition or treatments.
Your healthcare team can properly assess the cause and recommend appropriate treatments that won't interfere with your myeloma medications or overall treatment plan. While waiting for your appointment, make sure to:
- Keep track of when the cough started
- Note any triggers that make it worse
- Document what times of day it's most bothersome
- Record if any other symptoms accompany it
- List any over-the-counter medications you've tried
This information will help your healthcare team make the best treatment decisions for your specific situation.

I had the same cold which has moved into my lungs. I am now very sensitive to air pollution. I started wheezing and coughing up green gunk - this is a lung infection that I need to watch. If I really really rest, it might go away. But, I am not sure.
