I always see my test results before the Dr. does. They basically do not change much when told to me. Just more in-depth explanation.

At my appointment I have labs first and then I’ll see the doctor or np about an hour later. I’m always looking for the results while I wait! I usually see the CMP and CBC shortly before the visit and go over the results with the provider. I’m always so anxious to see them. Some tests take longer-several days. My kappa free light chains are now normal. Guess we all have to keep on trucking as my oncologist says!! 😊

Hi KathrynGuillaum - my Labs are sent electronically directly to the Doctor who requested the labs as well as directly to me at the same time; but it usually gets to me faster because there is no other place the labs have to go thru before coming to me - so it is rather a direct route. However, the Doctor has an Office that has other staff handling the electronic route, perhaps the Doctor's Nurse Practitioner who may not open it right.away. For most Labs there will be a message from the Lab to the Patient not to call your Primary or the Doctor requesting the Lab review, to give them a litle time to get to you, recognizing that the Patient may receive the Lab results sooner than the Doctor because there may be more than one person viewing, redirecting them or just haven't gotten to them as quickly as we because no one other than us is viewing them. ❤️🫠

Hi Kathryn. Now, with electronic medical records, most of us can see our lab results before our doctors see them. My test says abnormal if only one test is out of normal limits. If your glucose is the only thing out of range on your CMP, that is a very good thing. It's probably because you ate a little something before your visit. 🥰

My test results are posted as soon as they are entered by the lab tech posts them.
