Eric took during induction, held before and after SCT and his 100 days will be tomorrow. We will ask what he can resume. Right now a multivitamin is all they want him to take. We are holding CoQ10, Vitamins D with K 2, omega 3, and the Curcumin until we get the green light. He takes Magnesium oxide to help with his afib, so that was continued. There was an article in a MM magazine about curcumin being beneficial in MM.

From the very beginning of my Induction in 2021, I started with 4 grams of C3 Curcumin daily. Within just a few weeks I increased to 8 grams daily and continued daily until around June of 2023. Around that time, my Bone Lesion was becoming Active (known to be dormant after getting to MRD Negative in June 2022).

Around June 2023, I researched many types of Curcumin. Currently taking and recommend a Longvida type (either ProHealth or NOW brands) to get 2 grams of Free Curcumin daily while MM Active (this requires 16 capsules of ProHealth or 20 capsules of NOW brands - the remaining is their delivery system). Longvida skips the liver and remains as Free Curcumin much longer.

Before starting any supplements, including turmeric or curcumin, it's essential to speak with your healthcare provider. They need to evaluate potential interactions with your current myeloma treatments and medications.

While some small studies have shown promising results with curcumin in certain myeloma conditions, there isn't enough evidence yet to make broad recommendations for its use during treatment. Always discuss any dietary changes or supplements with your oncologist before starting them to avoid negative interactions with your treatment. This is crucial as some supplements, even natural ones, can affect how well your cancer treatments work or potentially cause unwanted side effects.
