Marlon, my regular oncologist told me I was getting a transplant very early on. They try to get our myeloma under good control before transplant. Your doctor is waiting to see how you respond to induction. Some people have an excellent response after one or two cycles. Others need more treatment. The best advice I can give you is to stay positive and exercise as much as you can. The steriods they give during induction can cause muscle wasting. My transplant was 12/20/17. It was a good decision for me.

Thanks my Doctor is scheduling my introduction to Stanford so I guess it’ll be soon. I really appreciate everyone with the feedback. Hope everyone has a good day.

You should be ready about now! You’re done your induction therapy, you’re 65 years old and in good shape surrounded by all those Infinities and your doctor is just waiting to schedule you into the assembly line! Have you started anything associated with the ASCT?

1) Pre transplant testing
2) Stem cell harvesting
3) Insurance authorization

All of the responses above are spot on. You have a wealth of knowledge and support here on this platform.

We try to spoon feed and hand hold all newcomers to reduce the stress of the diagnosis. In most cases the more you know the better you’ll feel.

Marlon,
Check out @A MyMyelomaTeam Member for his posts on SCT or treatment. The real answer is, it depends on your type of MM.

Read Dana Farber's Dec 23' Determination Trial Updated Press Release -
They now admit (it's always been in the Report) that if you get a Complete Response or even a Very Good Response - Do Not Get a SCT - Keep It In Reserve for the Future, if ever needed - they're now saying - This Is Much Safer
Details in their Press Release.
