Does Anyone Have An Autoimmune Disorder As Well As MM?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I am now in Active MM and it is escalating at an alarming rate. My light chain ratio went from 80% to 182% in 4 weeks. All the other numbers are also going crazy. I start chemo Tuesday. I will be on the following:
Daratumad, Velcade, and Cyclophosphamide. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, research has shown that individuals with certain autoimmune disorders may have an increased risk of developing multiple myeloma (MM). For instance, people with an autoimmune condition are found to be 13 percent more likely to develop myeloma and 42 percent more likely to develop monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), which can be a precursor to myeloma. Specifically, those with pernicious anemia have shown an increased risk of having both MGUS and multiple myeloma. However, the evidence regarding rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and lupus as risk factors for myeloma is inconsistent, with some studies suggesting a link while others do not. It's important for individuals with autoimmune conditions and concerns about MM to discuss their health history and risk factors with their healthcare provider.

Laurie,
People confuse β€œNever, ever give up, with Never lose faith.” I like to think that as each day starts, I’m one step closer to Paradise, so I better start tidying up.

Pbaldini, I have a very strong faith and will never lose that no matter what. I have a loving husband and children that I must fight for. I will try to be as positive as I can.

Laurie,
Your numbers are moving fast. Luckily I’ve read so many posts where people had 80% MM in their bone marrow, and now they are doing well. May God be with you on this journey. Never lose faith.πŸ™πŸ»βœοΈ
