I didn’t get a line for chemo. I had one during my SCT. God graced me and I took my chemo shots in my abdomen. If you have good veins and don’t mind being stuck, you can avoid it.

I had a hemlich line. So glad I did. Blood draws, infusions, harvesting of cells, and chemo after was all done via hemlich line. Gave my veins a rest.

I had a port for three years and I loved it. It had to come out because it was clogged and I do miss it, but my treatment now is SubQ and so I only get poked for monthly blood work. Novel therapies are mostly subQ now, so you may not need it. I know for VRD induction, you won't need a port.
