Its not if your in Pain. I was smoldering myself and then I experienced back pain. I went to Oncologist at Moffitt Cancer Center and she determined I had Multiple Myeloma with 6 fractures in my back plus two lytic lesions in clavicle and femur bones. Get to a Specialist who knows Myeloma and what treatments are available for you at your current stage.

Yes, get to a multiple myeloma specialist. Pain is possibly an indicator of progression. Time for a pet scan

I go to a university based NCI cancer center. I was diagnosed on the basis of my lab work-(M spike), MRI and X-rays. No PET indicated and no bone marrow aspiration. Since then I am followed by labs and MD visits every 3 months (at my request).

Please see an oncologist specialized in hematology. You need to have bone marrow biopsy and PET scan these two will give you a definite answer if you have multiple myeloma plus comprehensive blood tests. Try getting the doctor which are affiliated with major teaching hospital you will get the best care. If you locate in Southern California City of Hope, UCLA, UCI and Hoag hospital. My husband diagnosed with Multiple myeloma in 2018 then had StemCell transplanted in UCLA medical center. The cancer came back in 2023 and is being treated at Hoag hospital. Now he in Maintenance chemo to keep him in remission. Don't lose hope and have faith in God.
