Tom I had a similar experience in that I was sick and in and out of the hospital since March and I lost a lot of my mobility so I need to use a walker or a cane but I been doing my physiotherapy exercises and walking outside as much as I can and I am slowly improving in fact I managed to walk 1/2 km.the last two days.
Totally agree with you. I have started the live strong program at the YMCA . Everyone should look into that. Thanks Tim
This program is fantastic. They showed us 10 different pieces of equipment to use for total conditioning. I’ve used 10
Pounds (mostly) due to doc restrictions for my multiple lesions. It has amazed me how difficult it was to lift 10 stupid pounds once you hit 20 reps. Think I pushed a little too hard. Every piece of my body feels like it had a decent workout. Doesn’t hurt but I feel a little sore. Can’t say enough about this. I’m #13 in this group. They squeezed me in. It is so nice to talk face to face with others in the special group. Wonderful people who have been thru basically the same thing. I see lots of new friendships here. Just what I needed.
Joann yes exercising will increase your muscle strength but you probably won’t get completely back to your pre MM strength. I am sure that the MM has something to do with it but some of the drugs can cause you to lose muscle strength like Dexamethasone is a muscle wasting medications. I was confined in bed quite a bit since March and I lost so much of my mobility and muscle strength that I couldn’t hardly walk so now I have to use a walker or a cane but I am starting to move about fairly good these days because I have exercises that I got from my physio therapist and some that I found on this web site. It seems to be helping but its going to take some time.
I am doing light weights at home and weight machines at gym with very little weight to work on my range of motion
