Is Caregivers an organization or...??? A friend's mother used something local to her, but had things stolen. Several years back, I hired several people (1 at a time) from local churches which was quite interesting. One guy insisted on coming with his wife and started telling me what to do. Another took a 9 hour day to rake the yard. You don't know me, but neither of those things worked for me. Things keep happening that get in the way of all the stuff I need to do. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. This week it's a cardiology appt since they're trying to find out if my Shortness of Breath is cardiac or respiratory. And something is happening with my truck, but each time I get it to the shop, the problem has disappeared somehow.

I agree with Paula. Your goal, if at all possible, is to try to get a caregiver who you are comfortable with and who you can trust

Phyllis,
Now is a good time to try out Caregivers temporarily. They normally do cleaning, cooking or whatever you need. Finding one that fits your personality and lifestyle is a bonus.

I had a telemed palliative care session last week and mostly just discussed my current status. The Dr. sort of thought maybe I should get some outside care, since i mentioned that the local oncologist thinks i should live with somebody. I've been living on my own since 1982 and have no interest in changing that, but I maybe would like to see if i could get some inexpensive housecleaning because the pain makes everything so slow. We also discussed some pain meds, but I would rather hurt than go on opioids because of their side effects. It does seem that they could arrange physical therapy for me at home rather than going to the orthopedic center. Soooo, there's not much for me to talk about yet about whether or not it works, and how much but i would like to have my right arm stop hurting so much.

I've got a telemed appt coming up in the next couple of weeks to discuss palliative care with a doctor from Emory. Besides a recently torn rotator cuff, I have several lytic lesions, so I'm hoping for some pain relief. It takes about 4 or 5 5-minutes sessions to get the floor swept just in the family room. We won't discuss mopping....πŸ˜‚
