Husband has mm x 8 yrs. About 4 months ago, his abdomen has been expanding. He looks like he’s 9mo pregnant now. X-rays show gallstones and a sluggish bowel. He has pain. the gastroenterologist told me its from the pain meds. Now, he has a long standing heart condition. The extra wt in the front makes it harder for the heart. Bkjk, these are questions for his provider. We're just here for support. Does he need a surgery consult? Will he feel better getting that gallbladder out? Are his liver enzymes okay? Does he need stool softeners/laxatives for his sluggish bowels. Most people on pain meds need extra help with their bowels.
Most everyone's bowels decompress after they die. Just so you know. Also steriods can make us retain fat and fluid around our abdomen.
It's awful. Sending hugs and prayers🙏💖
Bkjk,
I went from 125 lbs and 6’ tall, to 165 lbs with a huge, hard fat stomach after taking high corticosteroids. I also have a heart condition. My ankles are never swollen but my stomach will swell a couple of inches some days. Not comfortable and puts pressure on the heart and lungs. Steroids also constipate. I tried Senokot gummies, but Magnesium Citrate gummies worked the best. MM affects my kidneys, so if I don’t drink enough water, they won’t function well. It’s a vicious circle and you have to stay ahead of it. Have you tried probiotics?

Me too. TMI🥴
Thank you for your information. Everything helps me try different avenues on my husband. No we have not tried probiotics. It’s really strange, but his pain meds dont constipate him at all!!! Me….I’d be in the hospital! 😅
