Has Anyone Experience A Secondary Cancer From Their Treatment Of MM?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a routine annual mammogram and was told to schedule a
sonogram for a more thorough check because of a noted potential concern .. I have never had to have a second review (even with dense
breath tissue).. any thoughts or experience along this question.

debra 854 I know 3 men who had MM and it has morphed into other blood cancers. Two of them have passed and they passed quite quickly. The MM turned into MDS and then leukemia. It’s the leukemia that gets them. So I fear that the most. I haven’t seen my neighbor who has MDS now to see how he is doing.

Debra854. Yes. I have MM, diagnosed September 26, 2009. I have been on Thalidomide then Revlomid, then Pomalyst. Now currently on Darzelex for Amyloidosis which only 10% of all MM patients developed.
Amyloid is produced by WBCs and are in your blood all the time. In my case, they string together and then wrap around the organs of the chest i.e. kidneys, liver, lungs, etc. Now it is wait and see. By the way, I am a 76 year old NAVY veteran who served off shore Viet Nam from 1968-1970.
My exposure to AO there caused my MM which showed up over 50 years later 🙃.
