My Oncologist has me on Xgeva for bone strengthening. I have had two shots and now have sensitive wisdom teeth on one side and may need them removed but my dentist is concerned about the gums healing due to the Xgeva. Advice? Similar experience?
Greetings from Alaska, Steven I just completed dental work. I was off of Xgeva for three months the first time I had my teeth clean and then another three months to get my teeth clean again. You must take a break from Xgeva as to not cause necrosis of the jaw, which it is famous for. My teeth now are sensitive but I needed to have it done. So good luck to you and God bless.
Thanks for the response. Best of luck in your journey
Steven you cannot have teeth pulled without taking a break of xgeva. Please ensure your oncologist knows. My husband went to an oral surgeon to have two teeth pulled. He had no issues but he had been off bone strengthening drugs for two years.
Steven3..My husband is on Xgeva. He went to our dentist for a cleaning when he started chemo and was prescribed a toothpaste which actually taste good. He brushes twice a day and has all his teeth and no cavities. It's called Sodium Flouride 5000 ppm by Wentworth in fruit flavor. 😁
I was on Xgeva monthly the 1st year, then every 3 months the 2nd year. Was suppose to be every 6 months this year, but the dental problems has put that on hold!
