Good morning Brenda. Normal plasma cell count in our bone marrow is supposed to be 5% or less.
25% of the the cells in your bone marrow have been replaced by plasma cells. These plasma cells are incorrect copies and can not fulfill rhe role of marrow cells on producing cells supporting the circulatory and immune systems. Most likely, as the % is greater than 5, the plasma cells are monoclonal, i.e. all copies from an original aberrant cell. My plasma cells area at 40% but I'm still in Smoldering. I'm not sure the % to be on Multiple Myeloma but other diagnostic factors have to be met also.
@A MyMyelomaTeam Member, I can always count on you Donna!❤️
i always listen to Donna best advice I have seen on here.!!!
My last Bone Marrow Biopsy, a little over 2 years ago, was at 50%, My Dr. told me treatments need to start when Plasma count gets to 60% or Higher. My Previous count 2 years before was @ 30%.
I go back to Boston in Late September, where they will start Discussion about getting in on a study. My, before studies, many test have to happen, including another Bone Marrow Biopsy. I get an injection every 4 weeks( going on 5 years now) of 100 mcg of Aranesp. Helps keep my WBC, RBC, and HEMOGLOBIN from dropping to low.
