I just got home from having my bone marrow biopsy. Had my first last August and one today. Did the mild sedation. No real pain from either of them. The mild sedation makes all the difference. Told to take it easy for the next 24 hours, Tylenol for any pain, and call them if I experienced any items in the list they supplied.

Ask for sedation, what a difference it makes

I had it done when I was first diagnosed in the hospital. Unbelievable, it didn’t hurt. I was freaked because I expected to be knocked out cold. He said no need. Hah, let’s switch spots. He was good.

The last three bone marrow biopsies I was anesthetized. What a huge difference! If given a choice this is the only way to go. The first one that I had was so painful!

My Dr used versed. it was done at radiology inpatient once I was ANETHESIZED at the site could position comfortably and i was sent back to post op, recovered in 1/2 hour, made me stay 3 hrs. NO pain during (just noise of drill) No pain after walked around fine. Never let them do this in a clinic only with radiologist following the process
