Concurrent cml and MM is extremely rare. I think that cml is more likely to happen as a result of myodysplasia, which can happen with mm. In the case of the cancers being concurrent, my understanding is that multiple myeloma treatment is sufficient for both cancers. It is so rare!

The answer is yes. I was told that the Melphalan and Cytoxan I had can cause Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Revlimid, Pomalyst, Thalidomide can cause AML and skin cancer as well. Some myeloma treatments can cause secondary cancers. In my opinion, any chemical, etc, can potentially cause cellular damage , changing the way cells interact with each other.

The treatments are different. They do give Ventoclax for both cancers. But it's not really approved for MM unless under a trial and if we gave 11:14 translocation 😉
