Does Anyone Use Or Know Anything About Creatine Monohydrate?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know It's to help build lean muscle when working out. I also know it should be avoided if there's kidney issues.

My kidneys are fine and my serum creatine levels are normal. One concern is that it won't add to my creatine serum levels and ever cause kidney issues. Reading online, everything indicates its safe to use. I'm adding 5g of it to my protein drink that I have after my morning gym workout.

I've simplified my gym time to two hydro-massages (one at the beginning and one at the end - 10… read more

Hi Donna - I have emailed my AON Nurse about this item and the new Methly B12 I'm taking. Waiting to hear back from her. Definitely trying to be careful and have all of my medical teams informed.

I am hoping others might have input on this as well as regards the gym work. Its been painful dealing with the muscle burn from my weak muscles that I'm rebuilding.

That said, I've made excellent progress. I no longer have tremors in my legs as I stand still for extended periods. I can also stand on one foot for 30 seconds - an item that my PT people wanted as a measure of recovery. I can easily lift items that are 25 pounds in a single hand.

Just this Monday, I did a telehealth with the Doc that did my kyphoplasty a year ago to inform him of my gym activities and to make sure I was not going to hurt myself. He said go for it - my L4 is as strong as any bone. My spine Doc that did my recent MRI asked that I don't do the 90 degree rotation with 60# resistance but otherwise, all of the rest of my workout is fine.

The more I work on rebuilding, the better its getting but I feel I still have a long ways to go. The two days of higher dose of Methly B12 and the addition of the Creatine Monohydrate have had a very noticeable improvement.

It was just this Tuesday that my AON Nurse called to review things and my on going supplements. We speak monthly but she suggested every two months since I'm no longer taking MM Meds.

Thank you for your concern.

All the Best

Hi Janeice - Thanks for your comments. I'd never heard of the product before. It was suggested by a Vitamin Shop staff. I told him I was rebuilding from an illness that was very muscle wasting.

A few days ago I was able to ask my trainer at Planet Fitness. He said sorta the same. Not a fan for general workouts. I'm definitely not tying to become a pro-athlete. My main goal is to maximize the time I spend daily. I'm rebuilding from being totally wiped out. I'm doing much better but I'm still nothing like I was before. At least now, I can stand in-place without my legs having tremors or having to quickly lean up against something.

Its 10 weeks now. I'm working all sorts of different muscle groups. I work at 12 stations with a total of 30 reps per, then 5 minutes on the elliptical and finally 15 minutes of stretching. All this plus a 10 minute hydro-massage before and after. Up at 5:30am - breakfast, a few things at home, to the gym and home again by 9am or earlier. Plenty of other supplement nutrients to assist. B12, Protein drinks, Vital Proteins, fruits, etc. Organic when ever possible. Discussed all this with my trainer. He likes what I'm already doing, without adding the Creatine supplement.

If you have other ideas of items to add to maximize my workouts, I'd be glad to hear.

All the Best - Larry2

Hi Kathryn - The Physician Naturals C3 Curcumin is 1 gram per pill. Below is an Amazon link. If you search for their site - it may be less expensive directly.

LelandStan has some recent comments. He says to take it last thing at night on an empty stomach so it doesn't extract iron from your food, and to ease into the larger size doses as it may cause diarrhea.

The value of C3 Curcumin is showing up in more and more places. LelandStan Posted about a new NIH Study - started in 2016 and concluded now in 2022.

" So look what I just found! https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35919637/ . A clinical study that was started in 2016 for the very purpose of researching this. They have published the results. They have concluded that it was significantly effective in prolonging PFS. The study used Curcumin in combination of the standard (at that time) of maintenance with Mephalin and prednisone but it does show that Curcumin does have efficacy. "

Hi PatriotGirl - Thank you. I wanted so badly to have my pre-MM life back. I got lucky and I made my own luck by learning, asking questions and making choices. During Induction I did exactly as I was told. After that 12 weeks, with totally normal Labs, I started to steer things quite a bit but with the acceptance of my 2 Docs. All along they felt I was making good choices, even though they weren’t exactly the “standard of care”. They’ve monitored closely and everything’s gone better than could be expected. I do think the C3 Curcumin has helped as well.

Wishing everyone the very best with their recovery - Larry2
