So stressful. But you have to advocate for yourself. Emory does bone marrow biopsies on everyone. I get one every year. Maybe over kill? They knock me out with Fentanyl and Versed. Thankfully I'm not allergic. I hope and pray you get a doctor you can communicate with. πŸ™πŸ’•

I see that you got some great answers to your question, and in some respects, hearing that you have a high risk genetic profile to your cancer can be unnecessarily harmful to your psyche
The single most important thing is pretty much whether you respond to treatment
I’ve seen patients who have had some of the high risk deletions responds readily to the first line of chemo and others with the more benign forms of myeloma struggled to have a good response to any chemo
As you learn about your disease, remember that you are an individual, and with a positive focus and faith in your plan, you will have your best outcomes

Check out this article I found. My FISH results said I was High Risk.
I have IGH-MAF fusion t(14;16) with loss of one copy of MAF locus (16q deletion) and IgA Kappa. What's amazing is they found all this out with a bone marrow biopsy that was so small it was not much bigger than a pencil tip. There are lots of article on line. Just search for your type.
