Does Anyone Experience Back Pain And Painful Neuropathy Down There Legs And Feet
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had MM for 11 years. I did 6 weeks of Valcade which put me in remission. I the remained on Revlimid for 10 years. I developed neuropathy down the back of my legs. They ache, and it is annoying. My doctor decided I might be developing an intolerance to Revlimid so he took me off of it. Two month later my feet began to ache. It feels like I am walking on rocks. I have been taking Neurontin(800 mg 3 x a day). It helps but not enough. My doctor is going to try Lyrica
Ps I also… read more

I have had neuropathy in my feet for over 9 years after taking Velcade. I was on Lyrica for over 2 years & it didn't help me. The bottom of my feet are numb & the only thing that I have found that helps me is to wear socks all the time, I even have to sleep in them. My feet will feel warm to the touch but inside it feels like ice in them & they hurt if I don't try to keep them warm & I never go barefoot. If I am up I always have to have my shoes on even in the house. I don't know if this will help you, but it is the only thing that helps me.

Be careful with Lyrica. My mom had brain cancer. She was.taking Dexamethasone, Ambiene,& Lyrica. The Lyrica gave her a strange side effect where she had “zombie” like symptoms. She would just sit and stare at the wall for hours not able to speak or interact with people. Soon as she was taken off of Lyrica, she return to normal functioning.

Attached is video 1 . I could only download one at a time.

The concept shown is a technique used by Orthopedic Therapists for muscle back pain and is now shown as a neuropathy reduction option that I have been using for 2 months. My wife ordered the Kinesio tape from Amazon. It may also be available at drug stores. The tape application lasts one week, removed for a day applying moisturizer cream and drying, then reapply for another week. You can shower with it with no problems. We have used a half box in 2 months.

Hi sfranco,
Velcade often causes neuropathy of the hands and feet. I posted that I use kinesiology tape on my feet for quite some time and while I still have some discomfort it has reduced my pain significantly.
Make sure that you are hydrated well if you have muscle pain. I had back pain a couple months ago and I just had a weak core and exercise at a physical therapist has helped.
My oncologist referred me to a Cancer Physical Therapist and have been on a recommended cancer diet and exercising to help with my symptoms. He took a petscan first to make sure the back pain was not from my myeloma.
Everything depends on how much your MM has progressed and your physical condition. I take Xgeva every 3 months, Revlimid at.15 mg/21 days and 7 days off. I have been on Revlimid for 31/2 years.
Gabepenton didn’t help, my oncologist suggested meds for my neuropathy, and I held off because most of the meds give me too many side effects. My goal has been to keep any pain manageable, not eliminated as well.
I hope this helps.
