How Do You Know When You Are In Remission?

A MyMyelomaTeam Member said:

LG, The doctor will usually do a bone marrow biopsy! If it shows no myeloma cells present in the bone marrow sample it is determined you are in Remission! They can also do a MRD Test to test for any Myeloma Cells.

Yes, I’ve had 3. And each one indicated my percentage of cancer cells in the bone marrow. The 1st was 20%. The second was 50%. The last was 10%. On my second one then started me on treatment. So you can see how much I improved by the last one. This is one of the best test they can give to let you know where you are, along with CT and PET scans. I hope this helps🌹

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member. Hello there. I’m not a dr , but it makes no sense to me, that your bone marrow biopsy are not definitive, and they want to do a Stem Cell Transplant. Get another opinion. Transplants are no joke!
