Teeth Implants
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm wondering if anybody that is still receiving treatment had implants put in and did they see a regular doctor or did they see a special kind of dentist that deals with people with cancer or MM?

I had implants done before I was diagnosed with mm. I went to my regular dentist and he referred me to a dental surgeon. I have not had any problems after I was diagnosed with mm except when I was tsking xgeva my left side jaw started hurting. When I stopped xgeva the pain stopped. I have since restarted xgeva and no problems yet. Ask your cancer doctor to see what they have to say about it.

Greetings from Alaska I have a very expensive post and I cannot continue with the process to get my tooth placed infection is a strong possibility I too had a SCT only 142 days ago. Transplant doctor said I can see a dentist in three months but I no invasive procedures.

I had implants 6 months before I was diagnosed. I had one xgeva shot and decided I didn't want anymore shots when I heard about the necrosis problem. It's was my understanding that the issue is more likely to occur if you have had recent extractions, which of course, I had. I think it's best to stay away from any invasive dental work when on the shot,

Greetings from Alaska again the post is in place. My dentist was or still is A doctor of pharmacy so it’s been interesting he approved he made the final approval for Xgeva but I also saw another Dentist at the VA who concurred now I’m off to Seattle Puget Sound VA where I will see another dentist before my SCT I’m still taking Xgeva once a month. So I’m like you I’m wishing for the best God bless you and take care I want to add you to my team and so I can keep up with happening with you
