Have you progressed from smoldering to active myeloma? How long did it take?

I had MGUS for 15 years before it transformed into MM. I was initially diagnosed with MGUS after a blood test done by a doctor treating me for carpal tunnel syndrome saw something on the test that he didn't like and sent me to an oncologist. He tested me for MGUS and was checking on it every year for 15 years, until finally he said it has turned into MM. He is an MM specialist and fortunately caught it all very early. No tumors, no bone lesions. I am now in remission after being on Revlimed, Ninlaro and dex for 14 months.

My husband had smoldering Myleoma for five years before it became active. He stayed under quarterly observation by a Dr. Really two Drs. He started having pain and labs elevated. He had his Auto bone marrow transplant in March of this year..He's closing in on his 90 day mark.

Cindy, There is no way of knowing! Sometimes it progresses right away, other patients I know are still smoldering for 10 years+. Good Luck for a long time of Smoldering! Love, Marcia 🌼🌸🌻
